Pastor Porter's Personal Pen

Hi Friend:

Always it is delight on my part to have communication with you. I hope by the time you read this letter, I have had my knee replacement surgery. I am in the place of complete immobility, unable to stand or take a step, even with a walker. So surgery, here we come. I will appreciate your prayers.

Biblical instruction demands Christians to obey the law, whether we agree with it or not. "Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man, for the Lord's sake; whether it be to the king as supreme; or unto governors, as unto them are sent by him to the punishment of evil doers, and for the praise of them that do well. For this is the will of God, that with well-doing you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men. Honor all men, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king." I Peter 2:13-15 "Let every soul be subject to the higher powers. For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God. For he is the minister of God to you for good; but if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain: (capital punishment) for he is the minister of God a revenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil." Romans 13:1,4

The action of our leaders in no way relieves us of God's direction to pray for them. In our republic we periodically have our recourse in the voting booth. Our national leadership reflects the grass-roots of our people. Are you praying for today's leaders? Our president needs to be saved, as well as most others in a position of leadership. When Christ told us to render to Caesar that which belongs to him, it was about the most corrupt form of government in that day. In no way did that fact relieve them of God's direction. Some day I should like to tell you about a preacher friend of mine who talked to the Pope for hours. That Pope heard the Gospel and was brought face to face with Jesus Christ. God answers prayer. Let's pray!

Thanks for reading my communication.

You have heard from me and I hope to hear from you.
