Pastor Porter's Personal Pen

Hi there, friend: Its that time for our monthly chat. So glad you have taken the time that enables me to minister to you again. Hope this past month has been a good one for you. Let come what may, God still says it will work together for our good. (Romans 8:28).

Have you ever thought of being prepared ahead of time for pressure, temptation, solicitation, and difficulty? Have you ever thought of making personal declarations as to what you will and will not do? May I give you a suggestion to help in this matter? Get a full size blank paper and a pen. Across the top write, MY PERSONAL DECLARATIONS. Immediately under that write the headings for two columns. I WILL DO and I WILL NOT DO. Put a line down between the two columns to the bottom of the page. Start numbering both columns. Let me suggest two determinations that will get you started. 1. I will spend at least 20 minutes in a day's time in prayer alone with God. 2. I will spend a least 3o minutes out of the 24 hour reading and studying God's Word. (Not including books about the book or man's devotional ideas from the Book.)

To fill out these two columns ahead of your pressure will take some time and energy. How many things will you do that are more important than here listed? What about your priorities of time? Do you need to get some facts down on paper about you relationship to your spouse or children? Anyone you dislike because of their treatment? Start praying for them as instructed. On and on I could go. I hope you catch this suggestive idea. If we fail in our demonstration before one generation, all of us know the consequences. How well we know.

Hear the self determination of the Psalmist: “I will sing of the mercy of the Lord forever, with my mouth will I make known your faithfulness to all generations.” Psalm 89:1 Hear Apostle Paul declare his course of action ahead of time. “For I determine not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” I Corinthians 2:1 “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me,” Philippians 4:13 “...for I know Whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.” II Timothy 1:12

Friend come join with me in early self-determinations. You have heard from me, now I hope to hear from you.
