Pastor Porter's Personal Pen

Hi friend, So glad you are with me on this new page in our web-site. This is going to be a regular feature, being changed often. It is the Lord's goodness that we are together. I thank Him for your appetite for Spiritual Truth direct from the Word of God.

Some people think that faith is their personal possession and must exercise it if ever reaching heaven. Well, that is not so. We have none and cannot accumulate it by personal effort. Many in Christian circles think its their faith that saves them. We are not saved by faith. Hear the Word of the Lord: "For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not of works, less any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8.9 God has provided eternal life through His Son on the basis of His Grace, not any human endeavor. The last verse of this same chapter declares, "For we are His workmanship." God must do it and He will. In fact all the work on His part has already been done on the cross and through a tomb left empty. To be saved by Grace means the recipient of God's undeserved blessing.

What is my part in this provision of Salvation? He tells me to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Listen to Paul's message, reporting to King Agrippa, "that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance."  (The works after repentance will give proof of such action.)  Acts 26:20 testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ." Acts 20,21. In repentance we allow God to give us a sorrowful heart for our damnable sin. In faith we rest upon what God has done for us in and through His Son, Who died in our deserved place and arose from the dead to place His resurrection power within us. Both Repentance and Faith are given to us as a gift.

That which God demands, is provides for us in Grace. Our part? Just be willing to let God do according to His promises. Trust Him to do it and get on down the road serving Him with all your heart. All instructions He has for you is in His Book, the Bible. Read and study it, and rejoice in His glorious Salvation.

You have heard from me and I hope to hear from you.
