Pastor Porter's Personal Pen

Hello, my friend. It is my personal privilege to write to you again.

Another national leader falls by the wayside. Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina acknowledged a mistress in Argentina when it was reported. We have not heard from our immoral, impeached past president. The silence of many in Congress cannot be missed. Maybe they cannot throw the first stone. This governor was willing to sacrifice his political future for the love of a women. Willing to be caught, he makes trips to that foreign country to the south of us.

Let me stop to tell his real action. Midst all the ramifications with his office, children, future confidence; his deplorable determination was ADULTRY. He broke his solemn marriage vows, made to God and his relatives and friends present at the wedding. Marriage is ordained by God. It is His plan for a man and woman "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother. And shall cling to his wife, and they shall be one flesh. "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." Genesis 2:24 (That relationship is broken only by death.) God gave Ten Commandments in the Old Testament. One of them was NO ADULTERY.

But they were in love. Any illicit relationship with a member of the opposite sex, when married is lust, not love. Christ told us to lust after another women is the guilt of adultery. (Matthew 5:27-28) It makes little difference to many people what God has said. They refuse His authority over them, forgetting His sure judgment for disobedience. King David suffered physically with the sword never leaving his household. His action of adultery and murder cost his kingdom. Governor Sanford and the rest of us have been warned. Friend of mine, all of us better keep close to God's Word. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalm 119:11

You have heard from me and I hope to hear from you.
